This two part training series is designed for district and building administrators along with other leaders in the building to assess your current system to support Tier 3 implementation. On Day 1, leaders will learn about and assess current status of a) teaming structures to lead and coordinate Tier 3 systems, b) data to monitor outcomes of implementation, and c) coaching structures to support fidelity of practices. Day 2 will focus on building shared understanding for the principles and practices of Person-Centered Planning to ensure leadership support and commitment to implementation.
District and school leadership and coordination is critical to fidelity of implementation and successful student outcomes. The key staff roles for participation in this series are district leader(s) who oversee student supports, building administrators who have leadership in directing vision of the school-wide supports and authority of staff roles and responsibilities, building-based staff that currently coordinate Tier 3 supports, and staff that may have interest in facilitating Tier 3 person-centered planning interventions.
Training - This learning series includes 6 hours of training held over two days. There is intentional space between these two training dates to allow teams time for processing and reflection on activities. This two-part virtual learning experience will provide opportunity for district teams to collaborate and plan. It is recommended that leaders from the same district participate in the same series. Virtual break-out rooms will be provided for collaboration.
Individualized Technical Assistance- In addition to the cohort style training, district leaders and/or teams can access up to two individualized virtual coaching opportunities to focus on individual needs of the school community. (2 Individualized TA Events)
Assess current system approaches to responding to challenging youth behavior and identify trends that may be impacted through Tier 3 implementation.
Describe and plan for establishing teaming structures that focus on systems to provide leadership and coordination of Tier 3 implementation.
Describe the need for a full continuum of Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions and assess current implementation.
Assess readiness of current systems for teaming, data collection, and coaching.
Discuss critical features of Tier 3 plans utilizing principles of Person-Centered Planning and Tiered Fidelity Inventory
Identify potential facilitators for Person-Centered Planning within your school/district.
Successful and sustainable implementation of Tier 3 practices requires strong systems to support facilitators. Establishing these strong systems requires district and building leadership committing to the vision, values, and resource allocation. This leadership series will assist district and school leaders to assess current systems for readiness and commitment.
What are the next steps after this training?
We encourage district and school level teams to complete the District and School Readiness Checklists to determine their readiness for committing individuals to the Tier 3 Intervention Facilitator training series. If District and School Teams are committed to the systems needed to support implementation of Tier 3 interventions, then complete the following steps:
Utilize the Tier 3 Facilitator Checklist to guide selection of facilitators.
If the facilitators selected were not a part of this training series, then arrange for time for a thoughtful conversation to discuss facilitator interest.
Once your district has solidified a plan for facilitator participation, review the training information and dates for Tier 3 Intervention Facilitator training.
When ready to commit to the training, please complete this Request for Tier 3 Intervention Facilitator training.
A team member from Midwest PBIS Network will reach out to schedule a time with your district and school leaders and all facilitators to discuss next steps for registering for the Tier 3 Intervention Facilitator training series.
2. Can facilitators who do not participate in this “Tier 3 Leadership and Systems” training still participate in “Tier 3 Intervention Facilitator” training?
Yes, the prerequisite is that district and school leaders have participated in the Tier 3 Systems and Readiness training series.
