Frequently Asked Questions
1) Who can be a person-centered planning facilitator?
Anyone who has dedicated time within their role and possesses the professional beliefs and professional skills as outlined on the Tier 3 Facilitator Checklist have potential for being successful facilitators.
2) What skills or credentials are required to be a person-centered planning facilitator?
While not all encompassing, the Tier 3 Facilitator Checklist provides a foundation for considering the skills needed to facilitate person-centered planning. While traditionally person centered planning falls within a clinician-based role, there is not a credential requirement. We have seen successful facilitators from many different job titles.
3) Can facilitators who did not participate in the “Tier 3 Leadership and Systems” training still participate?
Yes, the prerequisite is that district and school leaders have participated in the Tier 3 Systems and Readiness training series.
4) What if a facilitator cannot make all of the training sessions?
While Midwest PBIS Network strongly recommends that facilitators participate in all learning sessions, this will be a discussion during individual pre-conversations. The modules are designed to teach a component of the wraparound process and then have the facilitator complete that piece between the training sessions.
5) What if a person wants to participate in facilitator training and NOT identify a youth and family to complete the wraparound process?
Our experience has taught us that facilitators learn by doing and we have designed the training modules to be driven by the work being done between sessions. Therefore, we ask that only individuals who plan to do wraparound participate in this training series.
